Description:
This 2-hour workshop will enhance participants' knowledge, skills, and awareness about therapeutic sandtray in play therapy. A foundation of basic concepts, history, and tenets of sandtray therapy will be provided, along with the ability to recognize ethical considerations of its use in the playroom. The presenter will also provide education on: 1) the selection of sandtray miniatures and 2) the interpretative meaning of sandtray worlds to assist play therapists in effectively working with diverse youth and families. Lastly, participants can anticipate creating 2 therapeutic sandtrays and facilitating dialogue to practice processing sandtray worlds with clients in the playroom.
*Note: This in-person training has a 12 person MAXIMUM and 7 person MINIMUM*
Learning Objectives:
Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts, history, tenets, and ethical considerations of therapeutic sandtray in play therapy
Analyze the selection of sandtray miniatures for use within cross-cultural contexts in the playroom
Describe the meaning of 6 sandtray worlds in play therapy
Demonstrate 2 therapeutic sandtray prompts and apply play therapy techniques and skills focused on cultivating healing

This workshop meets APT’s definition of a CONTACT training and is approved by APT Approved Provider 08-223 for 2 CE hours. APT continuing education credit may only be awarded to mental health professionals.
Refund Policy: Refunds will be given for paid continuing education training cancelled by MAPT and for when MAPT relocated trainings to another region of the state. For attendees who cancel 48 hours prior to the start of the training, a MAPT credit will be provided to attendees for the amount paid and can be used at a future MAPT training.
