Where: Kansas City (location TBD)

Description:

Ready to enhance your effectiveness and skill as a play therapist? Come and explore the benefits of nature! In a world dominated by screen time and electronic communication, exposure to nature has dwindled, even to the point of deficiency. Even in the play therapy room, children are often limited to a sterile environment void of the sensory input and creativity nature provides. We will discover expression of play themes, skills for effective nature incorporation, and ethical considerations for utilizing nature-connected play therapy.

After the workshop participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least three benefits of nature-inclusion during play therapy sessions.

  2. Describe at least two ways to include nature into their play therapy sessions.

  3. Identify at least two differences between expression of play themes seen in nature-connected play therapy and in the office.

  4. Explain at least two ways to support therapeutic growth during nature-connected play therapy.
