from $0.00

When: May 1st

Where: Zoom 12-2pm CST

Host: Teresa Paterson Bartch, LPC, LCPC, RPT-S™   (she/her)

TITLE:  From Neurons to Nurture: Attachment Neuroscience in Play Therapy Practice

DESCRIPTION:

Participants will examine key neurodevelopmental systems involved in attachment, including the stress response system, overall brain development, and the role of experience-dependent neuroplasticity. Emphasis is placed on translating complex neuroscience concepts into practical Play Therapy  interventions that support regulation, connection, and relational repair leading to resiliency. Through clinical examples and discussion, participants will learn how the Play Therapist’s presence, pacing, and responsiveness influences neural activation and integration during play.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify two key components of attachment disruption that influences overall personality development throughout the lifespan.
2. Recite Play Therapy activities and interventions that support emotional regulation, felt safety and secure attachment with children and adolescents.
3. Explain the process the child's nervous system undergoes for healing with secure attachment intervention in Play Therapy.
4. Identify the function of the areas of the brain that engage in co-regulation and the window of tolerance in the Play Therapy space that facilitates neuroplasticity.
