5/16/25 - Resistance in Play Therapy: Engaging Children and Teens When They Avoid the Therapeutic Process (2CEs) with Teresa Paterson Bartch
When: May 16, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Where: Live Webinar (Non-Contact CEs)
Description
We have all had clients who have been resistant in the therapeutic process, regardless of the reason. Although it can be difficult to engage these resistant children, there are intentional ways you can connect and engage, and ultimately break through that resistant barrier. Join us as we dive into creative ways, that are informed by neurobiology, to engage those resistant children and teens, and how to partner with their parents to foster resilience.
Objectives
Identify what resistance looks like in play therapy
Discuss the key elements of the therapeutic relationship to unlock resistance
Explore ways to collaborate with parents to alleviate resistance in the therapeutic process
Identify three interventions to engage children and teens in play therapy
Explain three ways to foster resilience in resistant children and teens in the play therapy process.
